Hymn to Anubis

E.A. Wallis Budge, 1895

Hail, Anubis! Thou art the guardian of the tomb. Thy color is black as the fertile earth of the Nile. Thou art the guide through the Duat, the setter of the scale, the keeper of divine order. I have honored thee with offerings, with the finest linen and with precious oils. In life and in death, I call upon thee — Anpu, jackal-headed, star of the North!
