Privacy Policy
Privacy, plainly.
Effective date: September 14, 2026
The app
The Old Ways for iOS collects no data whatsoever. There are no accounts, no sign-ins, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reporters, and no tracking of any kind. The app's App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected, and it means exactly that.
- All content — the texts, rituals, calendar, and your reading progress — lives only on your device.
- The oracle's AI model runs entirely on your device. Your questions are never transmitted anywhere.
- Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, name, or Apple ID.
- The app makes no network requests to any The Old Ways app backend. The separate, owner-operated publisher described below is not part of the app and cannot access app activity or reading data.
This website
theoldways.co is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics scripts, and contains no trackers. Our hosting provider may process standard server logs (such as IP addresses) as part of operating and securing the service, as all web hosts do; we do not use these to identify anyone.
The Old Ways Publisher and YouTube
The Old Ways Publisher is a separate, owner-operated internal tool. It is not a feature of the iOS app and it is not available to the public. The tool uses YouTube API Services and Google OAuth only to publish approved videos to, and verify the status of, the official The Old Ways YouTube channel.
The publisher requests only these Google permissions:
- YouTube read-only access to identify the authorised channel and read the IDs, processing state, visibility, and basic metadata of videos on that channel.
- YouTube upload access to upload an approved video file together with its title, description, tags, audience setting, and requested visibility.
The publisher does not read viewing history, comments, messages, contacts, analytics, advertising data, or third-party channels. It never asks for or stores a Google password. It does not sell, rent, or share Google user data with advertisers or other third parties.
Publisher storage and security
OAuth credentials are stored with owner-only permissions on a controlled server. A minimal local publishing ledger may retain the authorised channel ID, uploaded video ID, source filename, timestamp, requested visibility, and processing result so that uploads are not duplicated and can be verified. Approved media and metadata are sent to Google solely to perform the requested upload. Access is limited to the single owner-operator of The Old Ways.
Control, revocation, and deletion
The operator can revoke the publisher's Google access at any time from Google's third-party access settings. Revocation prevents future API access. Google processes data under the Google Privacy Policy.
To request deletion of OAuth credentials or publisher ledger data, email [email protected]. We will delete the requested data as soon as possible and within seven calendar days. Deleting data held by the publisher does not delete content or data held by YouTube; YouTube content must be managed or deleted through YouTube or another authorised client that supports deletion.
Children
The iOS app and website collect no data from anyone, including children. The internal publisher is used only by the adult owner-operator and is not offered to children or other end users.
Changes
If this policy changes, the change will appear on this page with a new effective date. The iOS app's no-data design and the publisher's separate, limited OAuth use will continue to be stated separately.
