Chapter 97. [Falsehood]

1. Then I saw the souls of a man and a woman whose tongues were cut out. 2. And I asked thus: 'What sin was committed by these bodies, whose souls suffer so severe a punishment?' 3. Srosh the pious, and Adar the angel, said (4) thus: 'This is the soul of that wicked man and woman who, amongst the living, spoke much falsehood and profanity [or untruth], (5) and deceived their own souls.'
