On Conduct

Battiscombe Gunn, 1906

If thou art mighty, gain for thyself respect through knowledge and gentleness of speech. Command only as a director of affairs, for no one brings force against the will of a mild man. Do not command except as is fitting, lest thou be turned back on the path of rashness. He whose conduct is upright in heart shall everywhere find his way open.
